Join Brandise and Party with a Purpose!

10:53 pm in Border Radio by Holly

Join Brandise tonight at KING KING 6555 Hollywood Blvd LA CA 90028 from 8 PM – 1 AM.

She’ll be there with Trayvon Johnson of the Black Eyed Peas’ Peapod Academy, No King James, and former Border Radio guests Sin City All Stars.

The best part is that it’s for a really cool charity to for children called HearME. They’re raising awareness and funds to connect orphans and isolated children around the globe through music technology. We are immediately raising funds to build an online studio enabling the children in Iraq, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Puerto Rico and Watts to collaborate with each other across cultural boundaries.

Get out there and help the kids!!

Brandise plays Janathan Wilson on Border Radio every Sunday 11am-1pm Pacific. Here’s a bit about the fella…..

Jonathan Wilson released his debut album “Gentle Spirit” on September 13 on Bella Union.  Released in August in the UK & Europe, “Gentle Spirit” has garnered a lot of attention from some of music’s leading, and perhaps most respected, media outlets, including MOJO & Uncut, both of whom gave the album 4 stars & ample attention.

“Gentle Spirit” is not simply the name of the debut solo album by songwriter/musician/producer, Jonathan Wilson, it represents the ethos of the artist himself. Warm, supple melodies etched in layers of stringed instruments and willowy organ motifs accompany his earnest, North Carolinian drawl as he tells tales of humane values lost and found.

The album was made specifically for Vinyl, which I find very cool. Given the popular culture’s preoccupation with all things digital, “Gentle Spirit” draws a line in the proverbial sand; the album was conceived for vinyl. “I would say vinyl is the only real tangible format that contains meaningful value and the only one you can sell to me that retains any value. And to me, that’s on both sides of the table, the consumer and the artist. Even as a record collector I’ve always been vinyl driven. With vinyl, this is when the record sounds the best and when it comes alive. To me, this project and the album represent many things tangible and even more things intangible, those that can only be felt.”

Sean Wheeler And Zander Schloss “Retablo” Video

8:26 pm in Border Radio by Holly

Remember Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss from Border Radio with Brandise?
Here’s the official new video for “Retablo” off their album Walk Thee Invisible. The director, Geoff Moore emailed me with a bit to say about the making of the video.
This is what Moore had to say:
“It was a real labor of love project for me. I pulled a bunch of favors for an idea I had of a mad dash for freedom in the form of a prison break. who better to play escaped convicts then the legendary duo of sean and zander. ha. We shot it at Sean’s families 160 acre ranch in Morongo Valley right near Joshua Tree. was like a punk rock/convict decathalon with them running thru ravines, over mountains, and rowing thru lakes. we had a really small crew and shot it all in one day. all DIY. no label. and maybe one of the funnest and funniest days ever. oh. and the costumes were the actual “O Brother Where Art Thou” costumes. I’m sure there’s a million more details of the video, but really it is a video that we’re very proud of. These guys are the real deal and such characters. I just had to capture them and will be doing a new one for them soon!”
